We are going to
Kickstarter

The museum is already built. What it does not yet have is a full collection. The Kickstarter funds that.

The Heterocosmic Museum of Art is a museum dedicated to works that do not exist in our world — paintings, sculptures, books, films, comics, and videogames created by artists from parallel universes, each one diverging from our own history at a precise, documented moment.

The building has six floors, a research division, an acquisition technology, and a curatorial infrastructure that knows how to handle every category of work in the collection. What you see here is a deliberate preview: a selection of works chosen to show you what each category looks like, and how it feels to experience it.

Because not every kind of artwork is experienced the same way. A painting opens into a high-resolution lightbox with a full curatorial record. A sculpture does the same, with the physical weight of the object restored: material, volume, the space it would occupy. A book gives you an excerpt, readable in full inside the page. A comic opens its double-page spread almost to the full screen. A film comes with its documentation: production stills, director profile, the history of a movie that was made and that we will never see. And a videogame — a videogame you can actually play, for a level or two, in a console rendered directly in the browser.

"The preview collection exists to make one argument: the museum already knows how to hold these things. The campaign funds what comes next."
€1,000

Base goal: The First Year

Operational costs for the first twelve months of full activity. The museum stays open, the acquisition pipeline runs, and the collection grows from its current eight works. No ceiling. No target number. The museum acquires what it can document properly, and it documents everything properly.

Each goal funds a sustained acquisition campaign for one category of the collection. The pace depends on the resources. The ambition does not.

€2,000

The Cinema

A sustained acquisition campaign for films from parallel universes. Full director profiles, production histories, and curatorial documentation for every work that enters the collection. In our world, Andrei Tarkovsky died in 1986. In Earth-509, he lived another twenty years and made four more films. There is no shortage of films to acquire. There is only the question of how fast we can do it properly.

€3,000

The Library

A sustained acquisition campaign for books — novels, letters, manuscripts that do not exist in our world. In Earth-201, Sylvia Plath survived 1963 and wrote four more novels. In Earth-516, Stephen King published only one book, considered one of the finest works of American fiction. The Library already exists. This funds what goes on its shelves, for as long as the resources last.

€4,000

The Arcade

A sustained acquisition campaign for games from universes where the history of interactive media diverged — playable, documented, exhibited with the same rigour as everything else in the building. The Arcade already exists. This funds its catalogue.

€5,000

The Online Shop

The museum opens a real shop: high-quality prints of works in the collection, objects inspired by the museum's visual language, things you can hold from worlds you cannot visit. A portion of every purchase goes directly back into the acquisition fund — which means the shop funds more of what the shop sells.

The campaign is coming. Come and be part of it.
